About Our Founder & CEO

Eugene Chang is a seasoned business leader, entrepreneur, executive coach and management consultant with over 25 years of experience advising and transforming organizations across Asia-Pacific and beyond.

He is the creator of the Contextual Fluency™ Architecture – a structured system that enables true leadership portability across contexts and encodes practices that produce organizations that deliver long-term value and are built to last.

He spent over fifteen years at Korn Ferry Singapore, rising to Consulting Managing Director, overseeing a USD 20M practice of more than 60 professionals – the largest Korn Ferry consulting operation in ASEAN.

Eugene has led complex consulting engagements spanning enterprise transformation, operating model redesign, leadership development, and culture alignment. His experience across Fortune 500 companies, family-owned enterprises, government and non-profits equips him to guide organizations through important periods of transition.

Beyond enterprise engagements, Eugene has also led impactful national-level initiatives, including pioneering work on Singapore’s Human Capital Maturity Framework, which benefited over 2,500 organizations and was later adapted in Saudi Arabia across 20 key ministries in the Kingdom. He also founded a consulting academy to prepare leaders for the future of work, and designed national skill certification rubrics for people managers now delivered across industries. The impact of these practical tools is testament of his ability to use simple solutions in creative ways for outsized strategic outcomes.

Eugene holds a BA in Computer Science from Boston University, and a Global EMBA from INSEAD. He received his Executive Diploma in Directorship from Singapore Institute of Directors and the Singapore Management University.

Eugene currently serves on the Advisory Council of Real Impact Advisors, a philanthropy and impact advisory that creates catalytic transformations for a sustainable Asia.

Client is a home grown general insurance provider with expertise in the underwriting of all classes of non-life insurance with ambitions to expand in the region by acquiring insurance underwriting and broking companies. Pursuing a strategy that includes modernizing processes incorporating extensive use of IT and developing their professional management team to support their growth ambitions.

Solution

The project began with a Top Team Strategy Decode session with my senior leadership team to articulate our strategy. We worked with Eugene to develop a corporate balanced scorecard, which was subsequently cascaded to all departments. This alignment involved a fair bit of engagement with Department Heads and other managers to arrive at a fair and transparent system that was well accepted.

The system made use of shared KPIs to encourage inter-departmental cooperation and also incorporated softer levelled behavioral competencies for us to reward and promote on values - something very important to us in building up our culture of teamwork. The performance system was then linked to a robust cash-based incentive framework that provided a direct link of performance to rewards in order to motivate and incentivize our best teams and individuals. We feel we have put in place a robust HR system (both in training and tools) that we can build on over the years.

Result

Eugene has been instrumental in guiding the Management team throughout the journey. He was always available to answer our queries and without fail, always provides us with his professional advice and up-to-date market practice solutions.
